High-Performance Principles

The bottom line for any individual in any organization is to deliver results. There are two components to delivering results: what you do and how you do it. VisionPoint's high-performance principles, derived from and driven by both basic truths and the daily demands of the workplace, provide a foundation for how people get results. A high performer is someone who comes into work every day and consistently exhibits:

  1. Integrity
  2. Respect
  3. Initiative
  4. Confidence
  5. Purpose

These five principles provide a definition and shared understanding of what it takes to achieve high performance and provide a connective tissue throughout VisionPoint's competency-based solutions, designed to help organizations achieve a high-performing workforce.

Integrity

Integrity means telling the truth whether it’s convenient or not. Individuals who act with integrity consistently adhere to the highest professional standards no matter the circumstances. They foster trust and mutual respect through their openness, honesty and commitment to leading by example.

Respect

Mutual respect is the cornerstone of every productive working relationship. By showing consideration for all team members, valuing their opinions and encouraging different views and ideas, we can achieve the best results. Conflict and differences are natural, but high performers take the personal responsibility to assume good intentions and work through problems with professionalism, civility and fairness.

Initiative

Individuals who demonstrate initiative have the ability to anticipate problems, think through all potential consequences and offer and implement solutions before issues escalate. High performers recognize when something needs to be improved and take decisive, appropriate and respectful action to correct it, whether it falls within the scope of their job or not. They reach out across organizational boundaries to build consensus and shared responsibility for progress and process improvement.

Confidence

High performers have the self-assurance and poise to act decisively—even when the decision may not be popular—as well as to ask for help when needed. Individuals who are truly confident do not feel the need to draw attention to their own actions and abilities, nor are they afraid to admit they don’t have all the answers. This confidence combined with a sense of honesty and humility inspires trust, respect and loyalty, all critical factors in consistently maintaining high performance in times of continual change.

Purpose

Individuals who act with purpose have the persistence, commitment and drive to see the big picture and understand what it takes to get there. However, while they have a clear view of the ultimate goal, they also understand that single-mindedness can get in the way of success. Flexibility, creativity and adaptability in the face of unanticipated obstacles or competing priorities are all critical factors in acting with purpose to deliver results.
